Abdul Rahman Shihab ( Abu Ahmed ; July 12, 1968 - October 12, 2023), 55 years old, "Jabalia Director of the Atlas Center for Israeli Studies", was killed on October 10, 2023, due to the Israeli bombing of his home with family members in Jabalia town, North Gaza.
He was also a Palestinian writer and a political analyst , born and raised in the Gaza Strip . He specializes in Zionist affairs and founded the Atlas Center for Research and Studies in 2012. He also published a number of articles and analyses in newspapers and websites concerned with Palestinian and Zionist affairs. His center translated a number of books and studies published in Hebrew, including: The Rising Cliff: Implications and Lessons (2015), Media-Directed Wars (2018), and The Returning Arrow (2020). He participated in a number of conferences in Palestine and abroad.
He was martyred with his wife, children and mother in an Israeli bombing that targeted his home in the town of Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip. He was a freed prisoner who spent 23 years in the occupation prisons before being released in the Wafa al-Ahrar deal. He is considered one of the well-known political and cultural elites, as he stood out among the cultural elites as a writer and political analyst. He has a number of publications and scientific research specializing in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and he is the director of the Atlas Center for Israeli Studies.
He was assassinated with his wife, three children, mother, and 38 other members of his family on October 12, 2023, during an Israeli airstrike on his home in Jabalia, north of Gaza City , during the Israeli response to Operation Flood of Al-Aqsa .
