Full Name: Ahmed Abu Mutair | أحمد أبو مطير

Killed in an Israeli violation of the ceasefire by an airstrike on the headquarters of Palestine Media Production Company (PMP) in the Chalets area of Al-Zawayda, central Gaza. The strike destroyed PMP’s rented office, which served as a small production facility providing services to both local and international clients, killing also Ammar al-Zaaneen, the 8 y/o son of company cameraman Mohammed al-Zaaneen, and injuring cameraman Ismail Jabr.

Colleagues described him as an exceptionally skilled technician and repairman—some even calling him a “genius”—as well as a highly professional, educated, and open-minded individual. He worked with other PMP journalists in Gaza City from a rented office that included a production facility. In this role, he contributed to providing news and coverage services for both local and international media outlets. PMP also frequently collaborated with the German broadcaster ZDF through its Tel Aviv bureau and correspondents.

The Center for the Protection of Palestinian Journalists (PJPC) strongly condemned the crime committed by Israeli Air in flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement that entered into force early last week, which led to the destruction of parts of a large area of the building and severe damage to media equipment.

The Israeli Army accused Mutair of being a Hamas platoon commander; an investigation by Der Spiegel found inconsistencies in the document supporting the accusation, and was inconclusive.
