He was a photojournalist working for the Fourth Authority news agency, He was shot with occupation bullets while covering events on the Gaza border strip near in the central area.
According to the Palestinian Authority’s official news agency Wafa, and the Journalist Support Committee (JSC), a nonprofit which promotes the rights of the media in the Middle East : "These journalists, Omar Abu Shawish and Muhammad Al-Salhi, were providing live and professional field reports to inform us and the world about the important events taking place in the Gaza region."
