Killed in an Israeli airstrike on his family home, along with his father-in-law and director of the Indonesian hospital Dr. Marwan Al-Sultan, and the latter's wife and five offspring.
Journalist Mohammed al-Sultan, an editor and language reviewer for the Palestine daily newspaper in Gaza, was arrested by Israeli forces on September 24, 2023, after seeking refuge in a school following the destruction of his home. He was detained for 15 months, including in the Sde Teiman Israeli torture camp. During his detention, he was subjected to eight harsh interrogation sessions, physical violence, and degrading treatment. He was held for more than 17 months and was released on February 28, 2025, as part of a prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas.
