Archivist Notes
Mustafa Al-Sawaf, 68 years old, from Gaza city was a veteran journalist who worked with several media outlets, including BBC.
El Sawaf, a Palestinian writer and analyst who contributed to the local news website MSDR News, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on his home along with his wife and two of his sons in Shawa Square, Gaza City, according to the Beirut-based press freedom group SKeyes, the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate, and the Cairo-based Youm7.
Mustafa Al-Sawaf, who is called by some as the “Dean of Palestinian Journalists,” was one of the most famous and prominent Palestinian journalists. One of the followers mourned him, saying, “Dr. Mustafa Al-Sawaf is our father. We learned from him at the beginning of our journey towards media life and media appearances.”
His two sons, who are also journalists, Montaser Al-Sawaf and Marwan Al-Sawaf, were critically wounded. Montaser passed away with his brother Marwan, two weeks later, after another stike on their home, on December 1 and 2, 2023. There were both journalists.
