Ola Atallah, 21 years old, from Dair Al Balah, was a Palestinian Freelance journalist, correspondent for Anadolu Agency (formerly) and contributed to multiple media outlets in her carrer. She was killed on 09/12/2023, as a result of Israeli airstrike of her uncle’s house, to which she was displaced in the El-Daraj area in Gaza City, with nine members of her family including her brother and her uncles,according to Arabi 21, Turkey’s Anadolu news agency, and the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicat.

On November 27, Atallah wrote an article for the Al-Morasel website about life in Gaza during the war, describing the destruction and damage to her neighborhood and city. Atallah worked as a reporter for Anadolu news agency until 2017. Atallah was well-known on social media, and her last tweet on December 8 asked,In the last words that Ola posted on her account on the X website, she asked, “How many nights of terror and death does Gaza have to count? How many days of loss, absence, and pain does it have to count? How many hours of hunger, thirst, cold, illness, displacement, and alienation does it have to count? How many departed, weeping, and grieving people does it have to count so that the curse of reckoning falls and the cruelty of numbers disappears!”

Dr. Rami Abdo, founder and president of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, described Ola as a “veteran” journalist and commented on the news of her death, saying, “I cannot find words to express this loss. Ola was the best writer and humanizer of journalism… Our loss in you is great, Ola. I swear I cannot find words to express my condolences for you.”
