Archivist Notes

Sari Jamal Mansour, 32 years old, from Al-Bureij Refugee Camp, was a Photojournalist and Editor in-Chief at Quds News Agency. He was killed along with his friend, journalist Hassouneh Salim, on November 18, 2023 during an Israeli airstrike on Hassouna Aslim's home in Al-Bureij Refugee Camp in central Gaza, according to the Cairo-based Elwatan news, the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate, Al-Jazeera, and Anadolu news agency.

Social media users circulated a message they said was from Mansour's wife, which she had sent to him while he was covering the war. It said, "The kids and I have been waiting for you since morning and you didn't come. We were very upset, I swear... Come and have lunch with us tomorrow. Do you want to make kebab or kabsa? Come and sleep with us and bring Hassouna with you today." Journalist Hassouna Salim was killed with Mansour in the same airstrike.

Sari Mansour was prevented from communicating with his family during the war, forcing his wife to send him paper letters to communicate.
