Killed along with her husband Munir, her son Tamim, and her daughter Balsam when an Israeli airstrike bombed the family's home around 3 a.m. on September 30th, 2024 in the are al-Baraka area of Deir Al-Balah, in central Gaza. Her other son, Malek, was wounded in the Israeli assault.
She is described as a courageous, prominent journalist and activist from Gaza, who worked tirelessly to convey the Palestinian struggle to foreign media through writing, TV interviews, organizing conferences and exhibitions that highlighted Palestinian experiences.
During the genocide, she wrote the article "There is no such thing as protective attire for journalists in Gaza" one week after the murder of her colleagues Ismail Al-Ghoul and Rami Al-Rifi.

In one of her last exchanges on Whatsapp she wrote "I am fine, patient and steadfast."
Some biographical element from an article about her work, pre-genocide:
- Journalist Wafaa Al-Udaini, who heads the "October 16" team, points out in an interview with "Sanad News Agency" that they seek to make the world able to know the truth about the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians away from forgery and falsification, and continues: "We know that we are walking in a minefield with increasing harassment of everyone who defends Palestine, but we are doing everything we can."
- Al-Udaini believes that what she is doing with her team is "a necessary task to convey the truth through a Palestinian voice, in light of the tyranny of the Israeli narrative in its reporting of the current events."
- She continues: "It was necessary to have a Palestinian narrative in English that conveys the crimes and aggressions of the Israeli occupation, to convey the truth to the West by putting forward it by the Palestinians."
- The team includes 60 male and female volunteers, working in the field of foreign media, and its first steps began with the stage of linguistic and media development in the corridors of libraries and universities and continuous training, away from social networking sites.
- "The main objective of establishing the team was to amplify the voice of the Palestinian people, refute the Israeli narrative common in Western society regarding our cause, and put pressure on the peoples who support the occupation by educating these peoples about what is happening in the Palestinian arena."
According to Women Press Freedom (@CFWIJ ) :
"Wafa fearlessly reported on Gaza’s struggles and mentored young journalists, amplifying the voices of Palestinian people. Her voice for truth and justice will be deeply missed. #WPF vehemently condemns Israel's continued bombardment of Gaza and demands an immediate ceasefire."
